But where's the money going to come from?
It’s been silent over here as I’ve been wrestling out from under the fear that comes for all writers at one point or another: Where’s the money coming from?
This fear can strike at any time, and pops up when the writing is going well. I was buzzing along, churning out scenes with a clear view of the book when WHAM! (Not the band, sadly), money anxiety hit me hard.
As creative people, we’re trained not to expect much in the way of income from our art. And yet, we see people who get six or seven-figure book deals, people who sell their fiction, even short-story length, for lucrative film and TV rights.
Why aren’t you making that happen? The critic asks.
If it was that easy, we’d all be making the big bucks, wouldn’t we?
