Love the name change and the exploration of crafts. I never could do anything particularly crafty, but working with Jamie Ridler opened that up for me and now I love fooling around with paints and collage. It isn't, by any stretch, "art" nor do I ask it to be. I love how fiddling with glue and watercolor takes my brain into a whole other place. In the most magical way, it feeds my writing side. (Speaking of which, thanks very much for the mention!)
I question the word ‘never’ in your second sentence… I am sure there is a craft in you, if you want there to be. Paints and collage sound really fun and I absolutely agree that craft feeds writing and vice versa. Thank YOU for writing such a lovely post. I know so many people will connect with it. ✨
Ooh, juicy books! I loved Glynnis MacNicol’s first book too! Such a breath of fresh perspective. I have Kassia St. Clair’s The Secret Lives of Color, which is fun to dip into, even though I was sold on your description of the Golden Thread before I recognized the name.
Yay! I loved Glynnis MacNicol’s first as well, but I loved this one EVEN more. And I’m on the reverse direction for you with Kassia St. Clair - I have The Secret Lives of Color on my nightstand as we speak, and can’s wait to dive in.
As for crafting, my knitting has been trying my patience. I abandoned two projects that are “hibernating” The last piece I started: good enough Italian co the second time around, but I forgot to mark the right side and have at least one unintentional short row! 😩 I need some time and patience to get it sorted, because I’m not starting over again. Doodling and coloring as a stopgap, though I do have some partially completed sewing projects (but no sewing machine rn)
Love Ghost Wall! I got it in a bookshop in The Mission a few years ago. It was a staff pick and I couldn’t say no to that cover. A great read. Spread the Moss!

Fair cop on the 'never'. (laughing out loud)

and so many other good things! (I already saved this.)

When I make a small mistake in a knitting project that would be hell to rip out, I usually just make it a design feature. 🥰

Spread the Moss, indeed! It’s truly haunting and hasn’t left my mind since. Which mission bookshop?? I do miss them.
Pretty sure it was Dog Ear Books 🐶
