I have several shelves of tarot decks and Oracle cards! I love finding fellow card lovers/enablers! I hope to use tarot for writing more.

It is a process that just keeps giving, I have found. Often, pulling cards is just the push I need to move from feeling like I can't write that day to buzzing with ideas.

I did not realize there was a Buffy The Vampire Slayer Tarot Deck. I know what I'm asking for as a mother's day present now!!!!

I have started a collection of tarot cards and oracle cards. I love old suitcases, I could see this becoming a larger problem lol

It's great to hear from fellow "addicts"! Over the years I have collected many decks. I'm a born collector of things. It's hard to pick a favourite, but the decks by M J CULLINANE are right at the top. I see them as little art collections, but I work with them, too, mostly for myself. Some decks look amazing but I would find it hard to work with them. There's a fine balance between too little or too much symbolism, and some decks are overloaded, while others are too bland.

I love her work- I have one of the Forhäxa decks and it‘s gorgeous. And there are more expensive things to collect after all. I used to work for an auction house that sold classic collector cars, for example. Tarot collecting feels positively cheap in comparison!

It's such a gorgeous deck, isn't it? The colors and the art are so soothing. What's your favorite card?

I took a deep dive through this deck today, and I couldn't pick just one. I love the fox Hermit, of course, but I really love how she takes cards that are usually seen as stressful and makes them empowering: the 8 of cups and the 8 of Thunder/Swords are particular favorites. I also love how peaceful the Star is in this deck. So good!

I still consider myself relatively new to tarot (because I barely use my decks), but I have around twenty tarot and oracle decks. I've let go of about a dozen decks in the last couple of years. I'm trying to be more intentional with the decks I keep, but, oh, I know the feeling of collecting pretty pretty decks! Haha. My last purchase was the Many Queens shuffle deck so it's the one I feel like spending more time with these days. I mainly use tarot for self-reflection but I've been wanting to try it for writing as well.

Oooh. Love the Many Queens! Is the shuffle deck a smaller size? I have the big honkin' one and it's so large in my hands I have to spread it face down on the table to mix up. A smaller size deck is quite tempting.... uh oh. I am seeing the danger of having shared this post.

Yes, it's a mini deck! I think it was a limited run because I could never find it anywhere until I happened on a shop that was clearing stocks. It's about the size of standard playing cards. :)

I love the suitcases to keep them in as much as the decks Caroline! So nice. It was you and Susannah Conway that first introduced me to tarot back as lockdown happened. It opened up an unknown and whole new world for me. My Mum had dabbled but I took no notice.

I was desperately inspired to raid Amazon etc and buy several decks so I could learn but at that awful time too we had been the subject of a huge fraud on our business and had virtually no money so this was out of the window. It was my Saturn return I’ve since learned!

Then a friend gave me an Amazon gift voucher for 20€ and I decided that would be my only budget for decks. The choice was limited for that but one deck somehow came back consistently ‘The Magical Nordic Tarot’ by Jayne Wallace. My husband has Viking heritage so I thought this was apt too. So I bought it and have used it ever since. The Minor arcana are not illustrated much but they give me the meaning just fine after learning a lot about tarot online

When you reminded to use the card pull for characters just now, I thought yes! I’d forgotten that!! My latest writing could certainly be helped by that. With my love of cats too, my lovely daughter bought me The Mystical Cats Tarot by Lunea Weatherstone last year. So beautifully illustrated but they use different names for the Major Arcanas and the fire, sea, sky and earth labels and I find them confusing to use sometimes without the guide book. But still lovely to have. I only usually pull 3 cards on a Sunday morning then stick the printable sheet stickers from Etsy you told us about in my journal and review last week and then see how my week lines up going forward. Thank you for sharing this x

Beautiful, Sally! I'm glad you were able to find a deck that speaks to you. Agreed- there are some decks where I love the art, but I don't find the deck particularly practical for actual use. It's fun, having a variety, but there is definitely a smaller number I gravitate to for actual writing and pulling cards for insight.

Have fun pulling for your characters. I find any spread you might find for the life situation the character is in works, or even just a 3-card spread, which is my favorite way to work.

Enjoy!

It's really clever, and the people who designed it clearly love both tarot and Buffy. I definitely recommend it.

Yesssss. I absolutely ADORE that deck. What a beauty. I wanted to love the dragon one as well, but the suits all felt too similar. I want one with Dragons for Wands, but Mermaids for Cups and Unicorns for Swords and Rock biters from Neverending Story for the Pentacles. Maybe they will see this and make it happen?

My favorite right now is the Illuminated tarot, but most of the time I go back the Gentle Tarot - probably because like its name it always gives such gentle and calming images and ideas. This post is so relatable - each deck is a work of art! How can we not collect them??

It’s true - they are like works of art, absolutely. I love the Gentle Tarot as well- the colors, the feeling. Just gorgeous!

Isn't it wonderful how different we all are? I bought the dragon deck because I didn't want the suits being different animals. 😂😂😂 I do agree some of the minors are underwhelming, though. But I finally got myself the Mystical Moments deck as a writing reward -- my inner child/creative persona feels right at home in it.

Hahahaha- I love that you wanted all the suits the same Grace. So perfect and agreed, I love how different we are too. 🩷

oooh. That is tempting. I find I buy oracle decks, think they're pretty, and only use them alongside tarot rather than on their own. So I tend to hold off. I've started playing around with Leonormand recently, which feels wild: whole new system after 25+ years with the tarot? Who am ??
