Of all the obstacles I see writers facing, worrying that they’re not a “real” writer is one of the most consistent. Writing is available to anyone with a pen and some thoughts, but we hold back.
I started Murder Diaries because I wanted to share my writing process from behind the scenes. Writing nonfiction is relatively straightforward for me, but fiction takes time and doubts come up.
But having doubts doesn’t mean you aren’t a writer. Worrying you may have taken a long detour away from the main point of the book is normal.
There are so many variations of the myth of the real writer.
