Prepare your copies
At last! We begin our slow read of Possession in just a few days, so it’s time to prepare our books. I like to tab my copy with post-it flags marking the end of each week’s reading before the actual reading begins, so now is the time to get your copy out if you like to do the same.
We’ll be reading about fifty pages per week, and I encourage you to think about how you want to approach the reading now. Want to read the selection all in one go? Pick the day and time you hope to do that?
Prefer to read it in the morning with coffee, or in the evening before bed? Tab your book and set it in your reading spot now. This makes all the difference, I have found.
I also keep a pencil bag close by when I read (pictured above with contents strewn everywhere), which has a few highlighters, a mechanical pencil, eraser, and a little ruler in case I want my marks to be extra neat, but I usually get so excited I mark away without it.
Finally, I take a blank notecard and label what each highlighter color signifies to use as a bookmark. When I put the highlighter key in the front pages of the book, it was always a huge faff to flip back to it and remind myself of the color’s meaning. I’m much happier with this.
And now… the moment you’ve all been waiting for!
