I’ve been immersing myself in the words of other writers in these recent days that feel more like months. The desire for a container to hold all the weight of this time is fierce, and it shoves everything else out of the way.

I’m reading like Mary Oliver describes reading in Upstream, “…the way a person might swim, to save his or her life.” The question that’s guiding this devouring of books is simple, but not easy:

How do we do this?
