There are many reasons to read

As I shared in the first post in this series, you aren’t necessarily picking up a book to research for a piece of writing. There are few pleasures I value more than reading to escape, and when doing that kind of reading, I don’t take any notes. Reading itself is the goal, and for those reading for the joy of it, please don’t take this series as a suggestion you change anything.

Reading for the joy of it is always worth it.

However, if you are reading for another reason, namely to learn something and retain the information in the book for future use, this series aims to help you do that enjoyably and efficiently. I’ve been experimenting in this arena for a number of years now.

Let’s dive into reading that aims to enrich our writing later on.
