I am not a physicist, which I think most of you are clear on. But just so we’re clear. Perhaps if I collaborated with a physicist, I could explain why this phenomenon occurs.

What phenomenon, you ask?

A force field forms around your writing every time you step away.

It’s not physical, but nonetheless it is there.

There’s also a direct correlation between how long you’re away from the work and how intense the force field gets.

Get up to run to the bathroom or make a cup of tea? It’s more like a soap bubble.
But go several days, a week or longer and that force field can feel like an impenetrable bunker.

Here’s how to get back in.
