I was just Absolutely Delighted to listen to this one. I happened to be baking the syltgrottor recipe from Anna’s cookbook Fika while I was listening! I am traveling to a trail relay race this weekend and wanted to have lovely treats to share with my hosts/team for our post-race Fika (we all have Scandinavian cultural upbringings to some extent). Then, you all started talking about writing gnomes! Since my daughter was about 5 years old, she has brought the idea of gnomes into our family culture - they paint the traffic lights green, they open/close our garage, they bring the snow for skiing, they get into mischief when something is discovered missing/broken, on and on. She loves to write stories like me, and we fully plan to write a gnome story as an offering to honor all the invisible work they do 💗 Thanks for sharing this convo, loved listening!

Sarah this is such a treat to read this morning! I am thrilled that you had a Fika treat baking AND creative gnomes? Bliss. Please let us know how the story offering to the gnomes goes. If you share the story online, we'd love to see a link. Hope the race goes well!

There is an ease to this conversation that was so fun to listen to. I love the gnomes and Caroline's question about whether the gnomes were all the same or different depending on the project!

I loved also that the conversation was in the middle of the process of the book. This idea of cold is intriguing as well.
