My writing self generally goes around looking like Diane Keaton if she were cast in the film Newsies: stovepipe trousers, floppy button-down shirt with a waistcoat and tweed jacket. Plus a hat. I’m torn between a pork pie hat and a deer stalker.

Sadly not wearing ANY of that today, as it’s over 31C (90F) in Berlin today. 🥵 Come on Autumn!

You know my studio self wears a scarf and a beret, probably with pants rolled up too high, maybe even with suspenders.

What a fun question! I’ve never really thought of this. I picture a pair of corduroy overalls in a rust/pumpkin color with hand embroidered details, a fitted teal colored long sleeve shirt layered with a hand knit button up sweater with more embroidered details, some cute lace up boots with funky patterned socks (always), a tiny magnifying glass that hangs on a long chain around my neck because why not, and a dark felted wool fedora. Ok now to go shop for this outfit! Please autumn hurry up! 😄💖

I love this question. Thank you, Caroline! Alas, even if money were no object, I'd still be bopping around in overalls and t-shirts. I'd just have them in far more colors! Also, some fun, colorful sneakers...because comfort.

The answer sprang to mind (I've never thought about it; my subconscious clearly has.) Long, full brown velvet skirt, a tapestry waistcoat, and a cream colored blouse with sleeves that roll up easily so I don't stain them with ink coffee, or wine. And to show off my tats. (Gotta keep the dark academia vibe grounded.)

Soft jersey pyjamas. Beautiful colours. All day long. Not too far from the truth, except I always get dressed before lunch and my I can't find jersey pyjamas in beautiful colours. I don't have much imagination, but I love to be comfortable.

Comfort really is everything, as are comfy pajamas. 😍

My writing self wears a striped linen robe, with matching pajamas. Low key granola, but ready to host a slumber party as needed.

I want to go to that party!

I love this question and I’ve clearly never thought about it as it has stumped me to the point of questioning what I’m usually wearing when I write. Usually pajamas cause I’m stealing moments before the rest of the house is up and causing chaos. But if I had my druthers…loose fitting stretch dungarees rolled up to at least my ankles, probably barefoot, but when forced wearing red barefoot style sneakers. No bra and a soft, loose, swing top. Big ass multi colored straw hat for piddling in the garden while trying to decide what to work on next.

This sounds truly delightful and liberating. Pajamas are an excellent starting point though… I do enjoy writing in them, too.

Love this! I'm yearning for fall, so I would probably choose a long, loose skirt made from a soft fabric, a fitted t-shirt, and a cozy, blanket-style cardigan. Comfort is key! :)

My latest post is about this (although about how I dress generally)!

My writing self, unconstrained by money or reality, would wear pretty much what I was wearing today - a navy pinafore dress with a white linen tunic under it - but made to measure and sewn exactly to my specifications!
